Tim Doherty began his hitting coaching career at Oral Roberts University in 1989, then was hitting coach at Seminole Junior College from 1990 to 1992. In 1993, he became an assistant coach with the University of Southwestern Louisiana and from 1994 to 1997 was at Southwest Texas State University. Doherty coached nine seasons with Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association (2003 - 11), serving as their hitting coach from 2003 - 09 and their manager from 2010-2011. Doherty assisted Boston Red Sox hitting coach Dave Magadan in 2012. In 2013 Tim coached the International League MVP, IL Rookie of the Year and Baseball America's Triple-A Player of the Year, Chris Colabello. He has also served as an associate scout for the Cleveland Indians.
